Serving Our Inner-City
Sanctuary of Hope seeks to serve the inner-city of Kansas City, KS. In the heart of Wyandotte County, the poorest county in KS, many struggle with poverty, addictions, and violence. Many here are immigrants and feel isolated with a lack of community. Sanctuary of Hope seeks to give people a respite, a place to sort out their lives, get in touch with who they are, and get to know God. The staff is available to listen, provide support and guidance, and refer services while giving people opportunities to engage in the Scriptures, meditation, expressive arts, skills development and personal enrichment interactions.
Hope to Shalom Prayer Walk
Every April we invite the community to join in our annual Hope to Shalom Prayer Walk to pray for victims of crime in our neighborhood. We start at Sanctuary of Hope and walk to Shalom House (the men's homeless shelter at 13th and Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS). Stops are made at several symbolic places to pray and reflect along the way. More information about this event is available each spring in our newsletter.
